Gracias a Sam Phillips y a Elvis, númerosos artistas se beneficiaron de ese éxito y de la mítica Sun Records, ya que Phillips abandonó las grabaciones de blues para centrarse en el rockabilly.

El éxito fue total, aunque efímero, los lanzamientos de Sun Records eran todos grandes hits. Carl Perkins grabó  "Blue Suede Shoes”, la canción rockabilly más famosa de la historia, que primero sería éxito para Elvis mientras Carl se recuperaba de su accidente de tráfico en New York. Jerry Lee Lewis, pianista de sesión en Sun records, tuvó dos tremendos éxitos "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" y "Great Balls of Fire". Y Billy Lee Riley, en una segunda fila, contribuyó con clásicos como Red Hot o el Rock and Roll de los platillos volantes. Más tarde llegó Johnny Cash, que se convirtió en el mayor éxito de Sun Records, que acabó por redefinir el country con su peculiar estilo Boom Chicka Boom, mezclando como nadie sus influencias country con el rockabilly que sus compañeros estaban  iniciando. Pero todos estos artistas acabaron firmando por otras compañías. Sun Records no era lo suficientemente grande para mantener a sus estrellas.
